How can I get a list of places that are currently offering PA CLINICAL rotations? I want to do rotations in rural area medicine. I am a recipient of the NHSC scholarship & will be serving underprivileged population once I graduate.

47:17
Recruiting PA students to longitudinal experiences is not new to many programs as much of medical education is moving in that direction. What we do know currently is that recruitment to this type of model needs to be mindful and intentional. What the NOFO discusses in the background context is the need for recruitment but does not address that in the objectives and plans for budgeting and work plan. That being said, where/how can we plan for and support recruitment efforts to this longitudinal program if not the first year, years 4-5? My specific interest is in a pipeline opportunity to engage with and commit matriculating PA students to this opportunity. Latest data from AAPA and NCCPA shows PAs are not moving in the rural direction. Pipeline recruiting is necessary. Thanks for any feedback.

48:34
Just to clarify, provisional programs are not eligible to apply?

49:12
Can we train NP's?

50:03
Does this have to be all Primary Care rotations, or other specialties can be considered as part of 8-week training?

50:56
PA programs with provisional accreditation are eligible to apply for this grant

51:34
Stipends are only for primary care rotations.

51:37
Must the longitudinal clinical rotations be 8 consecutive weeks wherein the student is immersed in the rural community? Or can the rural clinical rotation be broken up into smaller chunks for a total of 8 weeks?

53:03
The 8 week longitudinal rotation is only for primary care.

53:12
All rural clinical rotations must be in primary care.

53:25
Are these slides available after the webinar? She is going too fast.

54:08
This webinar is being recorded and will be available to the public this week.

54:23
the slides are in the chat and can be down loaded

55:40
Is the grant for PA schools only or also for rural clinics?

56:06
The grant is for accredited physician assistant programs.

58:09
For the longitudinal rotations, do students have to be in school to complete them, or, can they go on the rotations post-graduation, say as a part of a rural PA healthcare track? Thank you.

58:14
Can programs apply if initial cohort has not graduated?

59:10
Can individual apply for this program?

01:00:03
The grant is for accredited physician assistant programs only. Not for individuals.

01:00:29
Is a clinical site that is owned by a health system, located in a rural area, eligible to apply?

01:00:56
trainees/students have to be in the training program to complete the rotations and not post graduation

01:01:25
Thanks!

01:02:18
Do PA Doctoral programs qualify for consideration?

01:02:32
Clinical sites are not eligible entities for this funding opportunity.

01:03:05
Thank you

01:03:08
On the Funding Preference calculations: Having just graduated a class a week ago, are we only to count those who are employed realizing that many graduates are seeking employment?

01:04:12
Is there any preference from HRSA for longitudinal + integrated rotations? Or only longitudinal? Most LIC models are both longitudinal and integrated.

01:04:47
Only if the clinical site or health system owns and operates an accredited PA training program

01:08:13
If most grantees are eligible for 8% indirect, does Attachment 10 only pertain to "state or local or federally recognized Indian tribes" (p 24 of NOFO). Thank you for considering.

01:08:21
Is there a standard stipend amount per student?

01:08:47
Can funds be used to pay clinical partners to take students; i.e., preceptor payment?

01:14:58
Does the stipend follow the same definition of primary care as NHSC (such as peds)?

01:18:49
Stipend is defined as subsistence allowance for students (trainees) to help defray living expenses during the time of their rural primary care rotation training experience, and are not provided as a condition of employment. The stipend does not include tuition, fees, health insurance, or other Participant/Trainee Support costs associated with the training program.

01:21:05
Wayne Matthews: Student StipendStipends are provided only for the time that the student is training in a primary care rural rotation(s) in the amount of $2,153 per month. This amount will be prorated for the student’s rural rotation if they train for more or less than one month. PA students may receive the stipends for multiple rotations in rural primary care settings. Stipends are only for PA students in the applicant organization’s training program.

01:21:43
I believe NOFO lists 8% indirect on training grants. However, slide 56 indicates use of a federally negotiated rate or 10% de minimis. Can you verify the indirect expectations, please?

01:23:08
REGARDIND INDIRECT COSTS: Attachment 10: Indirect Cost Rate Documents (As Applicable)Include document(s) that is/are relevant to negotiate indirect costs under training awards to organizations other than state or local or federally recognized Indian tribes, will be budgeted and reimbursed at 8 percent of modified total direct costs rather than on the basis of a negotiated rate agreement, and are not subject to upward or downward adjustment. Not counted in the page limit.

01:27:10
Just to clarify: what budget line is stipends to be itemized?

01:27:22
So we as a FQHC would not qualify for this funding?

01:28:13
Can the 8 weeks be split between 2 qualifying rotations (e.g 4 weeks IM, 4 weeks Peds)

01:28:15
would rural rotations longer than 8 weeks be eligible for stipend coverage for the duration of rotation (for example, a 12 week rotation), or only for 8 weeks?

01:29:00
cant

01:30:34
Im mute

01:32:55
Are ARNPs Board Certified through AANP with extensive Family Practice eligible?

01:33:19
Elias, please refer to PDF Page 8 regarding recruitment costs. Does this answer your question? Thanks

01:33:40
PDF Page Number 8 in the NOFO

01:34:59
Thank you!

01:35:01
I think Dr Villareal asked this question - but not sure it got answered - “Can funds be used to pay clinical partners to take students; i.e., preceptor payment?” Thanks for this excellent presentation!

01:35:54
@Bruce I read the NOFO include page 8 but it doesn’t adquately answer so I’m thinking this is not allowable.

01:36:17
Please, confirm: these funds CANNOT be used towards tuition reimbursement for graduates who choose to practice in rural areas. I this correct?

01:42:59
Will this recording be available so others can attend another time?

01:43:10
Do women's health or addiction medicine rotation count towards the qualified rotations?

01:45:28
Thank you to the entire HRSA team. This was an excellent presentation!

01:45:46
Can funds be used to pay preceptors/sites who are hosting the students?

01:45:58
Thank you all for the presentation! That answers my question

01:48:21
Thanks!!!

01:55:09
Excellent. Thank you.

01:57:59
