We do plan to send these out. However, they can email the resource mailbox ruralresidency@hrsa.gov to request the slides/recording. Thanks!

@GMO - is defraying housing cost (i.e., portion of rent or a stipend) allowed (as that is not acquiring or building real property)
Sheena Johnson, HRSA RRPD Program Coordinator
01:30:24
Hi Lee - Is this related to resident housing?
BEV SMITH dgmo

01:33:26
Are you asking about construction inside walsls of a building or supporting housing for residents.
Lee Buenconsejo-Lum
01:34:55
Hi Irene, we know that construction/acquiring real property are not allowable, but wondering if part of these funds could be used to help w/ a resident stipend to help cover rent costs (while the community stakeholders work on long-term housing options for health providers/trainees on the island)
Irene Sandvold
01:35:20
TY Jemima. If it is for resident support for housing = it would be no. If this is for remodeling space inside an existing building it would be yes. We will address in more detail later to clarify.
Jemima Drake - she/her, FORHP/HRSA
01:35:25
Hi Lee, paying for housing may be considered stipend, which is not an allowable cost.
Lee Buenconsejo-Lum
01:35:36
Thank you, Jemima!

We have a current Tax ID Name. But we are changing our name as of 1/1/2023, But the name change may not be completed in government entities. Our application should be current name or the name we are changing to on 1/1/23?
Jemima Drake - she/her, FORHP/HRSA
01:43:42
Hi Patricia, you should use the name officially listed with the IRS.

How about resident travel? Most rural programs involve significantly more travel expenses for everyone involved - including residents.

I believe that CMS looks at residents providing patient care as the main (maybe only…) criteria for being in a “rural location”. Residents certainly do educational activities that aren’t patient care (e.g. noon conferences at a patient care site) and these are clearly allowed as being in the rural location.

For access to past applications, you could also use the project director information on the HRSA Data Warehouse site to contact a project director directly and ask if they'd be willing to share their application. Just a thought.
